Even holiday shots can be different, and don't have to be on the beach in bright sun ! This is the Colosseum in Rome, shot, rather obviously, at night. The camera was a medium format twin lens reflex and it was stood on a bag on the pavement. I had a small cable release, so set the shutter on 'B' and adjusted the composition and focus. The exposure was about 15 second at f8, but I tried several combinations. You will tend to find that, particularly with mono film, several of the exposures will yield useable negatives, but each picture will be a little different. In these cases, beware of theives.
